Property Tax Appeals

Article: Property Tax Appeals in Arizona, Real Estate Advisor, August 2010

Real Estate Law

As a result of the recent decline in Arizona's real estate market,
D. Alexander Baker represents a growing number of commercial and residential property owners in challenging the assessed valuation of their real estate and pursuing property tax appeals in Maricopa County and other Arizona counties.

Alex Baker offers extensive knowledge of Arizona’s property tax appeal code and is well-equipped to guide property owners through the highly technical requirements of both the administrative appeal and direct appeal processes.

Significant Savings

To illustrate the potential value of an effective property tax appeal, Alex Baker has represented a Phoenix-area financial institution in appealing the property taxes on several pieces of adjoining land in Maricopa County.

Through a combination of the administrative and direct appeal process, the valuation of those properties was reduced by approximately $8 million, $2.5 million, and $601,500. The resulting property tax savings for that financial institution are well in excess of $100,000.
